Wind Turbines Project

Interferences that obstruct air traffic control can arise between wind power turbines and Skyguide’s air traffic control facilities. This constrains the potential to utilize wind power on Switzerland’s small territory. One current problem is that it is often difficult to gauge the interference effects of wind turbines due to the lack of an appropriate measurement tool.

A study is being conducted with the aim of evaluating the feasibility of a tool to gauge the interference effects of wind power stations. A more exact measurement that employs the latest methods for numerical calculation of electromagnetic fields could gauge those interference effects with substantially greater precision. That would considerably increase the potential to utilize wind energy, making a vital contribution to the Swiss federal government’s energy strategy.
